THE PRODIGALSBeachland Bootleg - Prodigals Live This album captures all the excitement of a live Prodigals show, which if you’ve seen one is tremendous. Yet, through the magic of the modern technology the sound is studio quality. Two new members of the band, Eamon O’Tuama, guitar & vocals and Eamon Ellams, drums, debut on this album. It is also the final appearance of Andrew Harkin on bass. Andrew in the current lineup is replaced by Ed Kollar. As is to be expected in concert, most of the songs have been previously recorded by the band. Favorites among them, written by Gregory Grene, accordion & vocals, include Alchemy, Quart of Gin and Chelsea 3am, and great covers of Bunch of Red Roses and Night Visit. The new material are the songs written by Eamon O’Tuama. Standout tracks are Going Home and Bloom Again. Gregory Grene is in great form - exciting the audience with his rapid fire lyrics and breathtaking accordion. The album closes with Bog (Down in the Valley-O), which they surprisingly have never previously recorded. It is a natural fit for the band as it relies on the acceleration of both the music and lyrics. |
