TÉADAInné Amárach With its current lineup Téada has become one of the most exciting trad bands in Ireland. Although the players come from throughout Ireland, the music is firmly rooted in the Sligo tradition. The lineup includes: Sean McElwain, guitar, banjo; Damien Stanson, flute; Tristan Rosenstock, bodhran; Oisin MacDiarmad, fiddle, piano; Paul Finn, button accordion. The album is a great collection of jigs, reels, hornpipes, polkas and a barndance which allows the band to display individual talents as well as their ensemble playing. A particularly interesting set: James Gannons/ McDermott's/ Over the Moor to Peggy opens with Paul playing a march on accordion joined by Damien on flute. They then transition to a barndance complementing one another before Oisin jumps in on fiddle to conclude the set with a furious reel. In contrast Nora Criona, a jig in slowed tempo, allows us to appreciate the bands ornamentation at a less frenetic pace. The band's cohesiveness is on display throughout the album which ends with a selection of reels. Also included in the package is a DVD which contains performances and interviews with band members. | ||||||||||
