Digitally Remastered

One of the great traditional bands of the Ô80’s -the combination of Kieran Hanrahan, banjo; Mike Hanrahan, guitar/vocals; Maurice Lennon, fiddle and Paul Roche, flute set the Irish music world on fire. This CD produced by Bill Whalen was recorded at the Great Southern Hotel, Galway was recently remastered and the sound quality is brilliant. For this gig they added Tony Molloy, bass and Fran Breen, percussion. When looking for the roots of Celtic rock, you can start right here! Walk Away was a huge hit on the Irish pop charts. The duet between fiddle and flute on Skiddoo is made all the more spirited by the pauses during which the beat is kept on the drummer’s cymbal. The band performs a definitive version of The Mason’s Apron as fiddle and flute trade notes while the banjo and guitar drive them along at a dizzying pace.
