Ireland’s greatest blues guitarman, Rory Gallagher, could play with the best of them and polls of music critics rank him right up there with Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix. The DVD records a tribute concert at New York’s Bottom Line featuring, Pat McGuire, Pierce Turner, Sean Fleming, Larry Kirwan, producer Seamus Kelleher (Blackthorn) and others. In telling the story of this show they also use archival clips of Rory in concert. Film of the songs being performed at the Bottom Line are artfully interwoven with performances by Rory so we come to truly appreciate his genius and why he was such a force in the lives of the performers who honored him that night. Also helping to tell Rory’s story is an interview with his brother, Donal, which is interspersed among the performances which results in this DVD containing both great songs and great stories.
