MICK MOLONEYMcNally's Row of Flats H-A double-R-I-G A-N spells Harrigan. This famous George M. Cohan song celebrates Ed Harrigan who in the second half of the 19th century dominated the American theatrical scene. Harrigan’s songwriting partner was David Braham. Together they wrote over 200 songs which with a vaudeville style tell the story of the Irish on New York’s Lower Eastside. Mick Moloney, noted Irish musician, singer and musicologist has selected 14 of them for this album. Joining Mick on the album are: John Doyle, guitar; Brendan Dolan, piano; Billy McComiskey, accordion; Dana Lyn, fiddle; Robbie O’Connell, harmony vocals and Vince Giordano & The Nighthawks, orchestra. The songs include: McNally’s Row of Flats, Are You There Moriarity, The St. Patrick’s Day Parade, My Dad’s Dinner Pail, I Never Drink Behind the Bar and The Mulligan’s Guard. The album also has extensive liner notes written by Mick recounting the colorful history of the era. Release date March 10. |
