MICHELLE LALLYIf This Be Love New Age music has always had its origins in Irish traditional music. Michelle Lally brings new life to this genre by giving an inspired New Age slant to the music of some of Ireland's great contemporary composers. The songs of Mick Hanley, John Douglas, John Spillane and especially Jimmy McCarthy are given fresh interpretations by her beautiful vocals which embrace the lyrics as her glorious voice amplifies the melodies. The album's executive producer is Frankie Gavin, who as co-founder of De Dannan, introduced some of Ireland greatest female vocalists of the last quarter century including: Dolores Keane, Mary Black, Maura O'Connell and Eleanor Shanley. Frankie's vast musical talents are found throughout Michelle's album. He contributed two tunes, Ruby Rose and Misha Mo Chroi, in new age style. His soulful fiddle introduction to Ride On sets up Michelle's evocative rendition of the song. Michelle's interpretion of Wonder Child is sure to become the definitive version of this song. Her radiant voice illuminates the mystery in the traditional song Black is the Colour. Mick Hanley, the composer of the title track, If This Be Love, sums it up — "Michelle's voice is truly beautiful and beautifully true." |
