A recognized genius on flute, a founding member of Lúnasa and now playing with Capercaillie, Michael has impeccable traditional credentials. From this solid base he explores the place of the flute in World Music. By introducing rhythmic back drops from jazz clippings, Indian percussion, bluegrass banjo and electronic loops he brings out the magic of the tunes. Although McGoldrick extends his music into the unexplored electronic universe it is rooted in the Irish traditional tunes, The Jolly Tinker and Last House in the Village featured on the album. Eight tunes were composed by McGoldrick specifically for this CD. The album was produced by his Capercaillie bandmate, Donald Shaw, who plays keyboards. Other guests include: Manus Lunny, John McCusker and Alison Brown.
