This album looks back at nineteen of the songs on which he has placed his personal stamp. Daughter of Mine has become a staple for every wedding, but John’s performance best captures the combination of pride and poignancy of the father on his daughter’s wedding day. Phil Coulter’s The Old Man offers him another opportunity to exhibit his unique vocal prowess and sensitivity to a song’s message. Another aspect of his musical repertoire is the feeling he brings to sentimental love ballads like, I’ll Be Seeing You and When I Grow To Old to Dream. His dedication to veterans is represented by the martial The Minstrel Boy and the meditative Green Fields of France. Scotland, his home of birth, is represented by Scotland The Brave, The Skye Boat Song, The Banks and Braes of Bonnie Doon and Auld Lang Syne. The true highlight of the album is the acapella version of Danny Boy.
