This is Frankie Gavin’s new band. On the album the personnel are: Frankie Gavin, flute, fiddle; Carl Hession, piano harpsichord; Derek Hickey, accordion; Tim Eddy, guitar and Michelle Lally, vocals. Frankie has described it as, “the most diverse collection of music and song I have recorded in years”. The album consists of 19 tracks which range from Tico Tico, a Latin American tune to the The Mozart Celebration, composed by Gavin and Hession to celebrate the 250th birthday of Mozart’s birth. Particular highlights include The Barndance set, where Rick Epping on harmonica join Frankie and Carl for terrific renditions of two tunes. On Sporting Galway, Carl Hession plays harpsichord to accompany a three part reel.

Michelle Lally, whose first album “Michelle” was mostly new age, gives a much more traditional performance of her the five songs on this album: The Wilde Goose, Both Sides of the Tweed, Down by the Glenside, The Broom of Cowdenknowes and Hard Times.

The new band has already had phenomenal exposure opening for the Rolling Stones at Slane Castle and playing to 82,000 people at the All Ireland Final.
