Great Big Sea, a folk-rock band from Newfoundland recorded this concert in Ontario toward the end of an extensive tour. The DVD portion of this package includes the complete concert with 28 songs plus 4 music video tracks. The concert opens with an acoustic folk set and after the break they come back to do an electric rock set. Many of the songs reflect the regional humor of Newfoundland: Concerning Charlie Horse, I'm a Rover, The Mermaid, Scolding Wife and The Night Pat Murphy Died. Short summaries will not capture the spirit of the songs - you have to hear, or ever better, see them. Other songs record the seafaring life, Captain Kidd, A Boat Like Gideon Brown and Excursion Around the Bay. The band also performs some traditional favorites Sweet Forget Me Not, Mari-Mac and a soulful version of Danny Boy. The entire concert is a high energy, good humored affair and you'll enjoy rehearing the 24 songs on the CD.
