Enya’s miraculous voice illuminates the album. Whether singing solo or layered into a choir, it amazes us with its beauty and clarity. The lush instrumentals consisting of synthesizers and a string orchestra produce a setting tailored to her vocal genius. Lyricist, Roma Ryan, worked in an imaginary language for the “Lord of The Rings” sound track. Following that path for three of the tracks on this album, she invented a language she calls loxian. But the words are never the most important element in Enya’s music and the sounds of the new language are wonderful. For lyrical inspiration we have the title track, Amid the Falling Snow and Water shows the hidden heart. For New Age fans, a feast indeed.
