This DVD is a collection of forty six separate performances from the archives of RTE-TV from the 1960's to the 1980's. The producers cleverly intermingle lesser known performers' pieces with early shots of some of the greats of the Irish folk revival of the period. The tone of the DVD is set from the beginning. Jimmy Sinnott performs, in lilting style, the Mullingar Races. On the very next track Triona ni Dhomhnaill and The Bothy Band are seen using the same style on Pretty Peggy's Reel. Other giants of the folk revival caught in early performance include: Liam O'Flynn, Clannad, Paul Brady, Sean Keane (fiddle) De Dannan, Tommy Peoples, Planxty, Paddy Moloney, Stockton's Wing, The Dubliners, Tommy Makem, Matt Malloy and countless others. These are interspersed between other performances and numerous dance sets. Aside from preserving these treasured performances, the DVD sets the Folk revival where it belongs - among the everyday people of Ireland out for the craic.
