CELTIC WOMANA New Journey On CD & DVD EM 75106 DVD $20 For their latest album, Celtic Woman, which has dominated the World Music charts for the past two years, has made their line-up even stronger with the addition of Hayley Westenra of New Zealand. Hayley brings impressive credentials as a classical performer to the group, but it is her enchanting performance of Scarborough Fair at the Slane Castle concert, presented on PBS, that has won the hearts of Celtic Woman fans. Hayley will be joining the other five woman on their upcoming four month tour of the US beginning February 14. The album is an intriguing mix of classical, folk and pop; all with a new age flavoring. In the opening number, The Sky and the Dawn and the Sun, written for the show by producer/conductor David Downes and Brendan Graham; the girls assume the character of the sun to create the new day. With a bow toward Clannad, Orla sings Newgrange and Méav and the chorus chant a rousing, Dulaman. Chlöe with her sweet soprano voice sings The Prayer and the classical, Vivaldi's Rain. Lisa sings Blessing, carrying forward the theme of the opening number. Somewhere Over the Rainbow as performed by Chlöe, Méav, Orla and Hayley is given a mystical sound. The finale, Mo Ghile Mear, combines the classic folk song with special material written by Downes. The album, which fully realizes the theme of the show, is sure to continue their phenomenal success. The DVD, recorded live at Slane Castle, contains the entire concert as presented on PBS. The fiddle wizardry of Mairead's Granuaille's Dance is best appreciated watching her fly about the set. The lively At the Ceili shows the girls in a dance setting. EM 75106 DVD $20 Celtic Woman 2007 U.S. Tour Schedule
