CELTIC WOMANA Christmas Celebration
Celtic Woman and Christmas - a match made in heaven, or least a heavenly match. With four, fresh, exciting soprano voices and one fiery fiddle; David Downes, who returns as producer and arranger, could not go wrong. With these 15 popular Christmas tunes ranging from seasonal favorites to carols, they celebrate the holy season.
The vocals are supported by the same ensemble that played on their first album, Celtic Woman The Show, and The RTE Film Orchestra. David Downes uses them with great discretion supporting, but never overwhelming, the vocals. Favorite tracks include: O’Holy Night, with all five girls; Silent Night, where Méav matches her vocals to Máiréad’s soulful fiddle; The Christmas Song, a great theatrical treatment by Lisa; Panis Angelicus, Chlöe’s heavenly soprano solo; The Little Drummer Boy, Chlöe and Órla supported by brilliant orchestration and a Gregorian chant choir and Let it Snow, a brassy finish with all five women.
