Another great album from Cathie and her producer John McCusker. On this their second album, her voice is graceful and expressive, the instrumental support including John Doyle, Phil Cunningham, Michael McGoldrick and Alan Kelly is world class and the selections of songs is inspired. As the titles suggests the theme of the album is the ocean, which allows for numerous variations on its metaphorical meanings explored by Cathie, who wrote three of the songs on the album. The lyrics of the ballads deal with partings and reunions, the pleasures of nature and the challenge of keeping love fresh as a relationship endures. A highlight of the album is her duet with Sean Keane on What Will You Do Love? To vary the pace of the CD, Cathie includes a lilting dance set. This album will enhance her reputation as America's finest singer of Irish songs.
