A Little Bit of Irish BING CROSBY
A Little Bit of Irish - Bing Crosby in Dublin
BC DVD 1 DVD $20

When the DVD opens on a Dublin street scene that was filmed in 1966, we know we are in for a unique experience. Not only are we going to be entertained by some of the greats of Irish show business, but also we are entering a time capsule. The first surprise occurs when Crosby introduces The Ludlows to sing Bold Fenian Men. A very young Jim McCann emerges leading the group. Later John McNally, a young man with black hair, makes an appearance singing I’m off to Philadelphia. The legendary actress, Siobhan McKenna, recites two patriotic poems, The Fool and Padraig Pearse’s The Mother. Next comes Dermot O’Brien with dark wavy hair and he and The Clubmen perform Come to the Bower and Off to Dublin in the Green. Finally a young Milo O’Shea appears and joins Crosby and O’Brien on McNamara’s Band. These memorable performances were preserved as part of Bing Crosby’s television show. Bing Crosby’s solos include Molly Malone, Galway Bay, Isle of Innisfree and When Irish Eyes Are Smiling. The DVD is entertaining on it’s own merits, but it also captures forever a time gone by.
