The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem
The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem almost single-handedly put Irish folk music on the cultural map in the 1960s. Following their 16-minute exposure on the Ed Sullivan show, the boys went on to play major venues all over the world. Famous for rousing renditions of Irish drinking songs, Irish rebel music and Irish republican songs, they released over 55 records. After their breakup, Tommy and Liam performed as a duo producing six memorable albums as well as solo efforts. The Clancy Brothers Reunion concert in 1984 brought the band back together for one great last hurrah.
